Two Questioned in Connection with Recent Homicide

Police have not yet released details about the men in question.

Evanston police are currently questioning two persons of interest in connection with a recent robbery that left a man dead.

Police have not released any details on the people being questioned and their possible relation to the case.

Two suspects allegedly approached a Chicago man, John Costulas, as he was walking east bound in the 500 block of Howard Street on his way to work early in the morning on Sept. 2.

"Evanston Police have now determined that as the victim approached the Marathon Gas station located at 555 Howard St., two assailants approached Mr. Costulas, and without provocation, physically attacked him. This physical assault involved one of the assailants violently striking Mr. Costulas in the head, which caused him to fall to the ground," read a police statement about the incident.

"The offenders, then acting in concert, looked out for possible witnesses, while the other offender went through the victims pockets. The offenders then fled the area as Mr. Costulas lay on the ground, unconscious and bleeding."

Costulas died at 3:38 a.m. on Sept. 10.
