Victim in Tuesday's Skokie Shooting is Identified

The victim, who was from Chicago, was shot on McCormick Boulevard just before 10 a.m.

Authorities have identified the victim in Tuesday’s broad daylight shooting on McCormick Boulevard as 23-year-old Antoine Sanders, of the 7000 block of South Paulina Street in Chicago, according to TribLocal.

Sanders was riding in a car around 9:50 a.m. at McCormick and Oakton Street when he was shot in the chest by a motorcyclist, Skokie police said. The shooter is described as a male wearing black clothing who was riding a maroon motorcycle.

Police said they do not believe the shooting was random.

Sanders was arrested two years ago near Evanston’s lakefront on weapons charges after a yard-to-yard search, according to a 2012 article in Evanston Now.

The article reported that Sanders was in a car that had been involved in a Rogers Park shooting, and that he and two other men jumped out of the car on Greenwood Street near Judson Avenue. A .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was found in the car and another .40 caliber handgun was found in the 1300 block of Forest Avenue during the search for the men.
