A woman from out of state was following her GPS while driving in Glenview when she intended to turn right onto Railroad Avenue. She didn't realize she had actually turned onto the railroad tracks until she saw the train coming, police said

The woman got out of her car, which was then hit by the train. No one was injured.

An employee at a Starbucks Skokie called police to report a woman who used a fake $100 bill to buy a cupcake. The manager didn’t realize the bill was phony the first time around, but said the same woman came a few days later and tried to buy another cupcake with a phony $50 bill, police said. When the manager said he had to get change from the back room, the woman took back the $50 bill and fled the store, the report said.

Police responded to a report of an unwanted, intoxicated person at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines. The woman allegedly assaulted the officers who arrested her and kicked the inside of the squad car she was in, according to the report. She also repeatedly swore at the officers and told them that her father was also a cop. She also said, according to the report, “Sorry I’m beautiful.”

That bites

A 66-year-old woman charged with retail theft at Carson Pirie Scott in Wilmette after she used her teeth to remove the tags from two bracelets and left without paying for them.

A day's youthful journey told through inanimate objects

A 17-year-old from Niles was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle after police spotted him driving a 2010 Mercedes SUV that a computer check showed was reported stolen from Winnetka.

When police later apprehended and searched him, they found a Mercedes Benz ignition key, a condom and two CTA bus passes.

Glossed over

Two women entered a retail store at Golf Mill Shopping Center and removed an entire section of lip gloss from a display, valued at $2,058.

Backpacking heat

A Skokie homeowner was smoking a cigarette when he noticed a backpack lying in the bushes. He called police, who opened the backpack and found a semi-automatic 9mm Ruger pistol.
