Chicago Avenue Closure Scheduled For June 2

The street will be closed between Church and Clark streets for most of the day Saturday, June 2.

The City of Evanston announced that Chicago Avenue will be closed for construction Saturday, June 2, between Church and Clark streets.

The closure will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. so that workers can hoist a new chiller system to the roof of the apartment complex at 1715 Chicago Ave., according to a release from the city.

Workers will use a crane to raise the heavy equipment, leaving no room for cars on the street. Southbound drivers will be detoured via Clark Street, Sherman Avenue and Church Street, while northbound drivers will be detoured via Davis Street, Orrington Avenue and Clark Street.
