City Hosts Bike Ride, Bike Lane Discussion Saturday

The discussion will focus on the proposed Chicago Avenue-Sheridan Road bike lane and street improvement project.

Update: The open house meeting location has been moved to Rotary International, 3rd floor Atrium, 1560 Sherman Ave., for additional space.

On Saturday, July 19, community members are invited to join City of Evanston staff for an informational bike ride and open house meeting concerning the proposed Chicago Ave./Sheridan Rd. bike lane and street improvement project.

In 2015, improvements are planned for Chicago Ave., between Grove St. and Sheridan Rd., and Sheridan Rd., between Chicago Ave. and Isabella St.

From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., the City will lead a bike ride along the Sheridan Rd./Chicago Ave. Corridor. Participants should meet in the parking lot located just east of the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., at 7:45 a.m. 

From 9 a.m. to noon, an informal open house meeting will be held at Rotary International, 3rd floor Atrium, 1560 Sherman Ave. The open house will address the need for the project, design alternatives under consideration, and the tentative schedule. Preliminary reports, engineering analyses, maps and aerial photography will be available for inspection and viewing. Additionally, City staff will be on hand to discuss the project, answer questions and record comments.

Participants are encouraged to bike to the meeting. Additional bike racks will be provided adjacent to Rotary International on Grove St.
