Dangerous Dog Ordinance Goes to City Council

The Human Services Committee voted 2-1 to send a revised version of the ordinance to council.

Certain dogs could be proclaimed "dangerous" by the Chief of Police or a designated person, as a new ordinance regarding dangerous dogs has been sent to city council.

The new ordinance is a response to problems with enforcing the city's current ordinance, in which the power to proclaim dangerous dogs lies in the court system, according to the Evanston Roundtable.
