Evanston Community and Economic Development Director Leaving For Another Position

Evanston's Director of Community and Economic Development, Steve Griffin, is resigning to take a job as City Administrator in Gulf Shores, AL.

Evanston's director of community and economic development is stepping down to take a position as city administrator in Alabama, according to Evanston city manager Wally Bobkiewicz.

Steve Griffin's last day will be April 26, Bobkiewicz said. 

"Steve brought organization and stability to an outstanding team of professionals in Evanston’s Community and Economic Development during his two and a half years here," he wrote in an e-mail to members of the media. "While we thank him for his outstanding service and wish him all the best in his new position, he leaves behind a strong department that is serving the community very well."

Griffin will take over as city administrator in Gulf Shores, AL, where he previously served as community and economic affairs director from 1989 to 1995, according to Bobkiewicz. 

The city will begin a nationwide search for his replacement immediately, and Bobkiewicz will serve as interim director of the department.
