Drive on I-90 or I-294? Tollway Ramp Will Be Shut Wednesday

You won't be able to get from I-90 to I-294.

If you're trying to get from, say, Schaumburg or Mount Prospect to Niles, Morton Grove or Park Ridge Wednesday night, July 27, a tollway ramp will be closed, so plan your route carefully.

The ramp carrying eastbound traffic on I-90 to northbound I-294 will be closed that night, according to a statement from the Illinois Toll Highway Authority. Crews will be working on removing overhead bridge beams as part of the I-294/I-290 Tri-Level Bridge Rehabilitation Project. 

The closure will take effect from 11 p.m. Wednesday July 27 to 5 a.m. Thursday July 28.

A detour will be posted, directing traffic to exit at Cumberland. 

The speed limit in all construction zones if 45 mph, whether or not workers are present. The minimum fine is $375, with a maximum of $10,000 and 14 years in prison for hitting a worker.

Using cell phones in construction zones is also forbidden by law.
