Township Dissolution Referendum Passes

Update: 9:37 p.m.

All the results are in from the 53 precincts and voters have given a clear signal that they'd like to see Evanston Township dissolved.

Those in favor of dissolution carried 67 percent of the vote, which came to more than 4,200 more votes. See the table below for full results.

Update: 9:25 p.m.

With all but two of the city's precincts reporting, the 'yes' vote continues to maintain 67 percent of the total and has expanded its lead to nearly 4,000 votes.

Update: 9:10 p.m.

The 'yes' vote continues to lead. With 48 of 53 precincts reporting, the 'yes' vote has a nearly 3,800 more votes than the opposition.

Update: 8:28 p.m.

Those in favor of dissolving Evanston township are carrying the race right now, with 67 percent of voters opting in favor of the proposed change. That's with 43 of 53 precincts reporting. 

Update: 7:47 p.m.

With eight out of 53 precincts reporting, the "yes" votes are winning by a little more than a two-to-one margin.

Voters are being asked whether they want to dissolve Evanston township and have the city take over those duties, which the city says could save half a million dollars.
