Aldermen Melissa Wynne (3rd Ward) and Donald Wilson (4th Ward) along with City of Evanston and representatives from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will be holding a joint ward meeting to discuss the upcoming Purple Line viaduct replacement project.
The replacement of viaducts at Grove St., Dempster St. and Greenleaf St. was approved in July of 2011 by the CTA Board as part of a $10.3 million contract that also includes the repair of the retaining wall along Chicago Avenue from Greenleaf St. to Hamilton St. Follow the project on the city's website at www.cityofevanston.org/purpleline.
The purpose of the meeting is to educate residents and the business community about the broad details of the project including the overall schedule, current retaining wall work, the foundation work that will take place this fall and spring detours and street closures. Residents and business owners will also learn how they can be kept informed as this improvement project progresses.

The meeting will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Nicohls Middle School cafeteria located at 800 Greenleaf St. (participants should enter through door 5).

Schoenberg’s determination to ensure that Governor Quinn and the Illinois General Assembly allocate the funds and that the CTA make this project a priority are the reasons it is moving forward. The City of Evanston thanks Senator Schoenberg for his exceptional leadership in making this key infrastructure project a reality,” Tisdahl concluded.
