Evanston Aldermen Reject Pedestrian Lights for Davis Street

Evanston aldermen voted 6-3 Monday rejecting plans to add pedestrian lights on six blocks of Davis Street downtown, which would have cost $180,000, Evanston Now reported.

Alderman Coleen Burrus (9th Ward) says the city is overspending on projects when there’s no money to do so while Alderman Judy Fiske (1st Ward) said she liked the pedestrian lights and have heard residents say they feel safer walking at night with the lights, the newspaper reported.
