Evanston City Council Says No to Pension Increase

The city council voted down a resolution to approve a $700,000 increase in police and fire pension contributions, approved an $80,000 Youth Job Center agreement and more during Tuesday night's meeting, 'Evanston Now' reports.

The Evanston City Coucil met Tuesday night and voted down a $700,000 increase in contributions to police and fire pensions, Evanston Now reports. The council did, however, give the thumbs up to an agreement with Youth Job Center to help prepare area youth for adulthood through job training and support.

Residents also expressed concerns over a potential tax increase, and a business owner reported an employee was threated by a neighboring business owner, according to Evanston Now.
