Evanston Hopes to Move Howard St. Police Outpost

The city wants to make more room for continued development of the strip of Howard where the station sits and move the outpost to another Howard Street spot.

Evanston’s Howard Street police department outpost is likely going to move elsewhere on the street to make way for more economic development at its current location.

The City Council Monday approved a recommendation from the Economic Development Committee to look for another tenant for the city-owned space at 633 Howard Street that the outpost now occupies. The outpost would move somewhere else on Howard.

That strip of Howard has had an economic renaissance recently, with trendy spots like like Peckish Pig and Ward Eight opening.
