Evanston Native Charlton Heston Postal Stamp Issued

Heston, who was born in Evanston and acted at New Trier and Northwestern, is the 18th inductee into the U.S.P.S' Legends of Hollywood stamp series.

Actor Charlton Heston, who was born in Evanston, was immortalized Friday in a U.S. Postal Service stamp.

He is the 18th inductee into the U.S.P.S. Legends of Hollywood stamp series, according to the postal service. The postal service noted Heston’s commitment to civil rights, including a march on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as his acting career, which spanned more than 70 films.
