The first Bike Plan workshop took place in October 2013 and featured maps and information assembled by T.Y. Lin International, the consulting firm working with the City on this effort. Attendees commented on the current state of bicycling in Evanston and shared their thoughts and ideas in five breakout sessions. The session topics were: 1) existing conditions and safety; 2) comfortable corridors and connections; 3) bicycle and motorist education, safety, and awareness; 4) bicycle parking and bike sharing; and 5) financial constraints.

Following input from the Bike Plan Advisory and Steering Committees, Evanston residents, City staff, business employees and visitors, the Draft Bike Plan was updated and will be presented at the May 3workshop. Those unable to attend the workshop will be able to access updates on the Bike Plan as well as provide input through an online survey posted at www.cityofevanston.org/public-works/bikeability. The survey will be open from May 6 through May 20, 2014. Comments may also be submitted by calling 311 (847-448-4311 outside Evanston).
