Levels of Methane at Evanston Park Not Worrisome

The fire department chief told the City Council the levels are 'negligible.'

There is no worry about the level of methane gas at James Park, Evanston Fire Chief Greg Klaiber told the City Council Tuesday, calling the amount “negligible,” according to an article in the Daily Northwestern.

Initial testing showed high concentrations of the potentially explosive gas near the park, the article says. But more conclusive, follow-up testing showed that the levels at the park, at Dawes Elementary School and other spots in the area were not concerning.
