Mayor to Host Safe Summer Summit

The city hopes the community will connect and engage to find strategies to reduce crime and violence in the city.

For months, the Evanston community has found various outlets to express frustration with recent crime, and more importantly, find ways to prevent it from happening again in the future.

There have been , , and a aimed at helping young men stay away from trouble on the streets.

This Saturday, the city will take yet another step toward reducing crime in Evanston with a Safe Summer Summit, aimed at connecting residents, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits and working towards new solutions to counter violence.

The summit will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave.

Agenda items for the summit include discussing ways to reduce violence, taking a stand against violence, and learning about the city's plans to reduce violence in the summer.
