Neighbors Continue Fight Against Veolia

The waste transfer station is the site of an ongoing battle between the company and community.

Earlier this summer, the city fined Veolia for a strong odors emanating from their Evanston waste transfer plant.

Citizens have long been fighting the transfer plant, with some wanting it to be held to tighter standards and others wanting it out of the city.

In a meeting with residents in January, city officials laid out a plan of proposed terms to improve the relationship between the company and residents, with suggestions such as improving communication and creating more green space near the entrance of the plant.

Months later, the Evanston Roundtable reports that residents say there are still issues with the plant.
