Should Evanston Township be Abolished?

Gov. Pat Quinn gives the City of Evanston authority to ask voters whether they want the township dissolved. What do residents think?

Earlier this month, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a bill allowing the Evanston City Council to place a binding referendum on the ballot asking voters whether they want to abolish Evanston Township, reported Evanston Now.

Sponsored by Sen. Daniel Biss of Evanston, Public Act 098-0127 is a follow-up to an advisory referendum placed on the March 2012 ballot in which the majority of residents voted in favor of dissolving the township, according to the story.
