Updated: City Invites Public Comment on 2012 One Year Action Plan

A corrected announcement from the city of Evanston.

The City of Evanston’s Housing & Community Development Act Committee will conduct a public hearing to receive citizen comments on the proposed 2012 One Year Action Plan and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Budget for FY 2012, which begins January 1, 2012 and ends December 31, 2012. The public hearing is part of the 30-day comment period, which opens October 7, 2011 and closes at 12 noon CST on November 7, 2011.

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 2404 of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois. In addition, citizen comments will be accepted in writing at the City of Evanston Planning and Zoning Division Office, Room 3000, Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60201 and by email at cdbg@cityofevanston.org.

2012 ONE YEAR ACTION PLAN

The One Year Action Plan discussed the city’s plans for using federal entitlement funds from HUD in 2012. Funding recommendations are consistent with the City of Evanston’s priority needs as identified in the HUD 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan is the City of Evanston’s primary vehicle for identifying and prioritizing housing, community and economic development needs and strategies, focusing primarily on the needs of low- and moderate-income residents, using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), and Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) funds. The statutory goals of the HUD Consolidated Plan are:
• To provide decent housing
• To provide a suitable living environment
• To expand economic opportunities.

All funding recommendations for FY 2012 were derived from the City of Evanston’s priority needs as identified in its HUD 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan.

The Evanston City Council will consider the proposed One Year Action Plan and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Budget for 2012 on November 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at its meeting in Council Chamber at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue in Evanston, IL.
