Alumnus Pledges $500K for STEM Labs at ETHS

Donation is dependent on ETHS Foundation raising $100,000 from private donations; fundraising kicks-off Friday, Sept. 21 with a golf outing and happy hour bash.

The Evanston Township High School (ETHS) Foundation is beginning to fundraise toward its $100,000 goal to build three Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Labs in 2014.

A pledge of $500,000 has been made by ETHS Alumnus Leonard Schaeffer from the class of 1963, but that donation is dependent on if the foundation is able to reach its fundraising goal.

“The people I met and the education I received at ETHS led to opportunities that changed my life,” Schaeffer said in an ETHS Foundation press release. “The STEM labs should help provide similar experiences for current ETHS students.”
