Beloved Kingsley Teacher Chris Short Loses Battle to Cancer

Short died recently of pancreatic cancer.

Chris Short, a 4th grade teacher at Kingsley School, died this week after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

A letter from District 65 Superintendent Dr. Hardy Murphy, published in the Evanston Roundtable, noted that Short had been in the D. 65 community since 1990, working at Nichols, Washington, and Kingsley.

The Evanston community recently rallied around Short, helping him raise money to offset expenses for his treatment that were not covered by insurance. ended up being one of the busiest nights in that business' history.

Short was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Sept. 8, 2010, according to a community website built to take donations for his treatment.
