ETHS Community Mourns Death of Incoming Freshman
The student died in a drowning accident over the weekend.
Evanston Township High School sent a notice to parents and guardians Sunday to inform them of the death of incoming freshman Tristan Shambee.
Shambee, who was 14 years old, died this past weekend in a drowning accident in Wilmette. He "had been swimming off of the pier with several friends when a wave pulled him under and he did not resurface," according to a statement.
ETHS said it will provide grief counseling on-site to any student or staff member who needs it. No appointment is necessary.
