Dr. Daniel Yergin to Lecture at Garrett-Evangelical

Dr. Daniel Yergin, Pulitzer Prize winning author, CNBC’s Global Energy Expert, and chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, will be lecturing at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on November 2, 2011 at 4:00 p.m, the first in a series of events on globalization, sponsored by the Stead Center for Ethics and Values at Garret-Evangelical.

Dr. Yergin will be coming in conjunction with the release of his new book, The Quest: Energy, Security, and the Remaking of the Modern World (Penguin Press, 2011). In The Quest, Yergin shows how energy is an engine of global, political, and economic change by exploring the stories and questions around oil, alternative energies, and renewable energies. You are invited to register for this exciting and unique opportunity to hear from one of the leading experts on energy at www.Garrett.edu/Stead. The registration fee is $10 and the first 250 people to register will receive a free copy of The Quest the evening of the lecture.

When asked about Yergin, Dr. Brent Waters, Director of the Stead Center for Ethics and Values and the Jerre and Mary Joy Stead Professor of Christian Social Ethics, said, "If the church is to provide an informed, intelligent, and faithful ministry to the world in the 21st century, then it must become familiar with the rapidly changing political and econoimc landscape. In response to this need the Stead Center is sponsoring a series of lectures, conferences, and programs on globalization. There is no better topic than energy to initiate this project and no better teacher than Dr. Daniel Yergin."
