Evanston's "Brothel Law"

Laws, such as in Evanston, restricting the number of unrelated persons from living together often adversely impacts housing choice and affordability, and access to schools, jobs, recreation, and other services. Its impact, especially in the 21st century, extends well beyond the conventional university student to other non-traditional households. Ellen Pader, Associatie Professor of Regional Planning at the University of Massachusets, Amherst will speak to this issue. Pader who received her Ph.D. in anthropology from Cambridge University, is considered a leading expert on the origins and consequences of familial housing occupancy standards and has written and lectured extensively on the subject.
