Your Journey...and How to Tell It.
Do you find yourself telling the same stories over and over? Are you looking for a way to organize your life experiences into a cohesive story? Do you have a story to tell but don’t know where to start?
This two-part workshop offers a practical approach to help writers identify the major turning points in their lives and shape them into a fully realized story. Using Joseph Campbell’s “The Hero’s Journey” as a guide, the class will give students a structure for their story, a voice and perspective to tell it, and writing prompts to jumpstart the writing process. The workshop is a combination of lecture, discussion and in-class writing. We also will have an opportunity to share our stories—or pieces of our stories— with the class.
