Evanston/Skokie District 65 Names New Superintendent Choice

Dr. Paul Goren was chosen from a total of 60 candidates to become the new superintendent of schools.

If approved by the Evanston/Skokie District 65 school board at its March 31 meeting, Dr. Paul Goren will become the new superintendent of schools.

Goren is a longtime Evanston resident and veteran educator, according to an announcement on the school district website.

"Paul Goren brings to this role a wealth of knowledge and experience in running diverse urban school districts and designing educational policy," the announcement states.

It went on to say, "his focus both locally and nationally has been on addressing the achievement gap, promoting healthy child development, helping make data more usable, and improving teaching and learning."

Sixty candidates initially applied for the position, which were then narrowed down to four last week, including Goren.

We are delighted to have Paul Goren join District 65's talented group of teachers, administrators and support staff to serve the students in our district.

"We would like to welcome Paul Goren to our school community and look forward to the great opportunities that lie ahead under his leadership. We feel very fortunate to have such a talented educator ready to lead our efforts in providing the very best opportunities for all students in District 65," the announcement states.
