How Much Could the Sequester Impact District 65's Budget?

All federal programs, except the National School Lunch Program, could be reduced by 5 percent at Evanston/Skokie School District 65.

 

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 could see its budget cut by about $300,000 this year due to the sequester, or federal government budget cuts, Evanston Now reported.

The automatic budget cuts went into effect in March and , according to the latest figures from Eye on Washington, a DC-based lobbying firm that tracks federal employment. 

The Huffington Post reported that the cuts amount to $1.2 trillion over the next 10 years and $85 billion for the remainder of fiscal year 2013. A dramatic reduction in spending is likely to hinder an economic recovery just taking hold.
