‘Safe Zone’ to be Expanded Around Evanston Township High School

Evanston Township High School District 202 Board recently approved a proposed intergovernmental agreement with the City of Evanston that would expand the safe school zone to encompass the sidewalks on Dodge Avenue, Lake Street, Pitner Avenue and Church Street; the goal is discourage incidents around the school, Evanston Now reported.

The city also plans to install emergency telephone kiosks at the corners of Dodge Avenue and Church Street, and Dodge Avenue and Lake Street that would be monitored by cameras--the kiosks are expected to be in place by the end of August, when school resumes, the newspaper reported.

Tell us: Do you think an expanded "safe school zone" will help prevent incidents around the school?
