○ Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Ever since I was a little boy I have wanted to go to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A few years back when I was 12 I got the amazing chance to go up in a small airplane and even work the controls. A retired commercial pilot was able to take my dad and I up for a flight when my family was on Washington Island in Wisconsin. After that I was hooked, and convinced my parents to give me a flight lesson for my 13th birthday. This year I joined the Civil Air Patrol and go every Tuesday night for two hours to learn about the Air Force and about flight. I recently had another great experience and got to take a military orientation flight offered by the Civil Air Patrol and was able once again to pilot a small Cessna-172 to Burlington Airport in Wisconsin. I’m trying hard to accomplish my goal of going to the Air Force Academy and taking engineering courses at the ETHS. I hope that one day I can serve my country in the Air Force.
