The Last Night on Earth is the second prom hosted by Girl Group Chicago, the 2013 recipients of two Chicago Music Awards for "Best New Entertainer" and "Pop Entertainer of the Year." Girl Group Chicago is transforming Mayne Stage into an end of the world dance party including a prom photo booth, Girl Group “Bouffant Booth,” cash bar with signature drinks specially crafted for the event, and of course, music. The evening’s emcee is Mary Beth Brennan of The Baby Magic, and opening acts include The Dyes, a Chicago-based trio who infuse 60’s inspired garage-rock with infectious 50’s rockabilly undertones to create a punchy and melodic, yet raw rock n' roll sound and The Revelettes, a campy, vampy 60’s style go-go troupe mixing the moves, the do’s and get-ups of the 60’s with contemporary sensibilities. Girl Group Chicago takes the stage last working the crowd into a frenzy as if this is the last gig on earth.

Girl Group Chicago is an all-female music phenomenon that was founded by Shana East in March 2012. Since their first public appearance at Schubas in December 2012, audiences and critics have praised every aspect of the group’s performances as they “don’t so much work the stage as commandeer it—even when they’re just doing a simple sway-and-swim routine behind soulful renditions of ‘You Don’t Own Me’ or ‘Last Minute Miracle’” (Chicago Reader).

Featuring 20 of Chicago’s most talented female artists, with its performers often playing in other established Chicago bands, Girl Group Chicago takes the stage looking like a demure 1960’s-era girl band with beehived hair and lips painted – and then unleashes a powerful “wall of sound” performance with a mixture of 1960’s aesthetic and feel, reclaiming songs as its own with a 21st century edge and a distinctive Girl Group sound. The Chicago Reader’s Music Editor Philip Montoro said, “I'm sorry about every time I didn't see them over the past year and a half... They strike the perfect balance between winking at the dated material and having a huge, contagious amount of fun with it… I'm in love.”
