Evanston Lobbying for Ice Cream Parlor on Main St.

The city's economic development office is asking people to voice their support for a Forest Park business thinking about opening a shop in Evanston.

Does Main Street need an ice cream parlor?

Evanston’s economic development office thinks so. Specifically The Brown Cow, an ice cream shop in Forest Park that recently checked out the Main Street business district as a potential spot for a new shop.

Evanston Edge posted to its Facebook page, asking Main Street businesses to let The Brown Cow know how much they want it to join them.

The Brown Cow has scoped out City of Evanston Illinois Government and really likes the Main Street Evanston business district. What will it take to get Connie Brown to open here? Please share your love of ice cream or maybe take the 45 minute trip to visit her in Forest Park. Or just post something here encouraging her to open shop.”

Residents chimed in with encouragement.

“It's called MAIN street for a reason - it's the main thing you need! Come to South Evanston!” one wrote.

“The only thing missing from main street is ice cream!” said another.

What do you think? Would you frequent an ice cream parlor on Main Street?
