Chicago Fire Soccer Signs Northwestern Grad Chris Ritter

The New Trier alum was previously honored the Big Ten Defensive Player of the year while playing soccer at Northwestern University.

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that they have signed Northwestern grad Chris Ritter, 23, as a midfielder.

“Embodying what Chicago loves about its athletes, Chris is a tough, hard-working and skillful player,” said Chicago Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop in a press release.

The Winnetka native joins the Fire after his successful collegiate career at Northwestern University, where he played in 84 regular season matches, scored 14 goals and tallied 13 assists.

In 2012, Ritter was honored the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year after leading Northwestern to its second straight Big Ten regular season title.
