Led by senior sprinter Margaret Bamgbose, the ETHS girls track team took third at the state track meet last weekend.
Bamgbose took home a first place medal in the 300 meter hurdles, with a time of 41.11, a full second faster than any of her competitors. She also finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24:32, a hare behind first-place finisher Aaliyah Brown of Lincoln-Way East. Bamgbose came in fourth in the 100 meter hurdles.
Also competing in the finals was sophomore Parker English, who finished third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.60, and fourth in the long jump, with a jump of 18-04.50. English joined teammates Kaylyn Prior, Joppa Banks and Jahnell Horton to finish third in the 4x400 meter relay, with a time of 3:53.22.
Competing over Memorial Day weekend, the boys squad did not fare as well as the girls. The 4x400 meter relay team of Aaron Mann, Demonte Hill, Antonio Johnson and Pat Klamm were ETHS' only entry in the finals. They placed eighth, with a time of 3:23.97, good for a 68th place finish over all.
