CHICAGO MATCH RACE CENTER'S Chicago Match Cup, the Alpari World Match Racing Tour

WHERE:              East End of Navy Pier

WHAT/WHO:             The Chicago Match Cup, presented by Chicago Match Race Center (CMRC), was chosen as the sole U.S. stop on the Alpari World Match Race Tour. The event will bring 12 of the world’s top-ranked skippers and their teams to compete for their share of the $100,000 total prize money purse and points earned towards the Tour’s overall World Championship, which features a total of $1.75 million in prize money, the richest in the world of sailing.

COST:                         Free

DETAILS:              CMRC will create a race village atmosphere to entertain spectators between races, complete with a beer garden, raffles and prize giveaways, live music and sailing-related activities. There will be live commentary during the races to help explain what’s happening on the water.

The America’s Cup-style match racing is intense, action-packed racing between two equally matched boats in head-to-head combat. The racing takes place just feet away from the edge of Navy Pier, and will thrill spectators with its close maneuvers by the best sailors in the world.
