Eating to Heal:Restoring Balance thru Body Ecology Diet w/Christine Krumsee

  • Eating to Heal: Restoring Balance with the Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates

Our relationship with food is an evolution. While the main purpose of eating is for survival, many other physical, emotional, and spiritual factors come in to play. We eat for pleasure. We eat to cope with grief or sadness. We eat to relieve boredom. We eat to celebrate. We eat to lose weight. We eat to be social. But there comes a time for some people when they are no longer able to eat like they used to, often due to chronic health issues. The purpose of eating changes its focus and they are forced to face their attachments with food and the impulses that navigate their choices.

The Body Ecology Diet (BED) provides nutritional guidelines for people looking to overcome Candida & other fungal infections, digestive problems (including gluten intolerances), general fatigue & exhaustion, and other immune complications. While informative, the book can be quite overwhelming.

Through this workshop, we will navigate these changes together, addressing the emotional issues that arise. We will use yoga, meditation, and affirmations to help control cravings and adjust to our new way of being. We will use meal planning and recipes to succeed with our dietary change. Please note that the BED is meant to be a guide and each person is encouraged to adjust the diet to their individual needs.

**Christine Krumsee, RYT & Therapeutic Arts Instructor, came to the Body Ecology Diet due to a systemic Candida infection. Six years later, Christine has recovered from her infection and has gathered a wealth of knowledge about eating to heal. She continues to explore the effects food has on physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Christine has taught yoga for the past three years and has run the North Chicago VA’s Veterans Craft Program for the past six years. Her other workshops include “Mindfulness Meditation,” “Whole Living,” and “No Gluten? No Sugar? No Dairy? No Problem!”
