EPL Latin@ presents “Summer Kickoff Open House” at the Main library (1703 Orrington) on Saturday, June 9 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. in the Community Meeting Room on the first floor. This bilingual event will feature speakers from various Evanston organizations who will give brief presentations regarding fun opportunities happening this summer, especially events that may be of interest to Latin@ youth, adults, and families. It’s just in time as most schools let out for summer break on June 7.
Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons said, “Summer is a wonderful time to have fun at the Evanston Public Library. We invite all children to participate in this year's Summer Reading Program: ‘Reading is Delicious!’ Working together with our partner, the Evanston Coalition for Latino Resources, we are proud to create new and interesting programs to better serve the residents of Evanston."
The Summer Kickoff Open House is also sponsored by the Evanston Coalition for Latino Resources, which will be at the event signing up people for their Annual Soccer tournament. EPL summer reading games for children and young adults will also be highlighted, as well as leadership programs for immigrants and intercambios (language exchange sessions). The event is free and open to all Evanston residents. Organizations wishing to participate should call 847-448-8658.
