Mindfulness Meditation with Christine Krumsee
The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, was first developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center as a tool to help chronically ill patients cope with pain and the accompanying stress. Since its inception, the MBSR teachings have spread to hundreds of hospitals and are used for people with wide ranges of medical problems. The tools of this practice, however, benefit everyone, both young and old, sick and well. Based in the Buddhist tradition, Mindfulness Meditation is essentially moment-to-moment awareness. When we become aware of the present moment, we begin to see our habitual thoughts, beliefs, and reactions that are causing us stress and anxiety. Once we are conscious, we can choose to change the things we can control and let go of the things we cannot. This course, lead by Christine Krumsee*, will provide practical and insightful guidance for all people, regardless of previous experience or religious affiliation. *Christine, RYT, studied Mindfulness Meditation with Ajit Vaidya and is a Therapeutic Arts Instructor for Veterans at the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. Here, she also leads Mindfulness and Yoga classes for the patients. Her other workshops include “Whole Living – Yoga for Weight Loss” and “No Gluten? No Dairy? No Sugar? No Problem – the Art of Living Free”
$135 for the 6 weeks (every Saturday from 5/07-6/18), includes the book Full Catastrophe Living and the 4-cd set Guided Mindfulness Meditation both by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
