Evanston Resident Snags Top Spot in Triathlon

A woman from Evanston placed first in her age group in Chicago's Life Time Triathlon this past weekend. Her time put her fourth overall for the international distance.

An Evanston resident swam, ran and biked her way to finish fourth overall in the women's international distance at this past weekend's 30th annual Life Time Tri Chicago.

Sheila O'Neill placed first in the 20- to 24-year-old age bracket with a time of 2:29:11. The winner, Miriam Bednarik, completed the race in 2:21:25.

The International distance race consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike and a 10-kilometer run.

More than 10,000 people raced in the Life Time Tri Chicago, making it America’s largest triathlon. The annual race brought together amateur and professional athletes on Sunday with top contenders in 11 age groups.
