Evanston Swimmers Rule at Bronco Relays

The Wildkits posted fastest time in Illinois so far this winter season in the 400-yard freestyle relay and captured the White Division team title with 374 points to 341 for Libertyville.

Evanston’s boys swim team went head-to-head with No. 1 ranked Libertyville in the White Division of the Bronco Relays invitational meet Saturday at  Barrington High School.

It was the Wildkits who thrived most in the all-relay format, posting the fastest time in Illinois so far this winter season in the 400-yard freestyle relay and capturing the White Division team title with 374 points to 341 for Libertyville.

The 400 relay team of Joe Seguine-Hall, Ryan Knohl, Christian Stankovic and Christopher Russo combined for a winning time of 3 minutes, 15.90 seconds to secure the team crown for the Wildkits. Overall, Evanston scored first place finishes in seven races in a dominant display of depth.

Earning victories for ETHS were Russo, Seguine-Hall, Adrian Lafont-Mueller and Stankovic, 7:24.61 in the 800 freestyle relay;  Jake Girard, Karl Ortegon, Maciej Olszewski and Knohl, 3:52.04 in the 400 medley; Justin Hadley, Stankovic, Russo and Henry Peters, 2:45.96 in the 300 backstroke;  and Richard Alonso, Girard, Olszewski and Jordan Allen, 3:07.57 in the 300 breaststroke.

The Wildkits also scored two wins in freshman-sophomore races as Alonso, Evan Ziolkowski and the Lafont-Mueller twins, Alex and Adrian, ruled both the 400 freestyle (3:30.17) and 200 freestyle (1:36.00).

Evanston added second place efforts in the 850 freestyle and  400 medley events.
