Evanston Tops Loyola Behind Bailey's No-Hitter

The Wildkits defeated Loyola 3-0 Tuesday, when pitcher Hunter Bailey threw a complete game no-hitter in his first-ever varsity start.

In his first ever varsity start, Hunter Bailey threw a complete game no-hitter to lead the Kits to a 3-0 victory over Loyola.  Bailey walked 2 and hit two batters but kept Rambler batters off-balance all day striking out 4 including 2 in the last inning.  The game was tied 0-0 into the bottom of the sixth inning.  With one out in the inning, Brandon Vamarasi and Joe Franke drew walks.  Julian GonzaleZ then singled to left loading the bases.  Eli Otting's ground ball to short scored pinch runner Martin Fenn unlock the scoreless game. Eli Miller's RBI single made the game 2-0 and then a 1st and 3rd double steal gave the Kits a 3-0 lead.  Bailey struck out 2 batters in the seventh before retiring the final out with a pop up to short.  Alex Vergara was 2 for 3 for the Kits.

Evanston runs its overall record to 20-12 its first 20 win season since 2008.  They play Wednesday at 4:45 at home against Glenbrook South.  It is "Pack the Park" at Evanston Stadium with free popcorn and other promotions.
