Girls Take Third Place at CSL South Division Meet

Senior Kyla Steman and freshman Emma Dwierzynski both earned top 12 individual finishes to lead Evanston’s girls cross country team to a third place finish in the team standings at the Central Suburban League South division meet held at Niles West High School.

New Trier repeated as team champion with 19 points, followed in order by Maine South (65), Evanston (75), Glenbrook South (98), Niles West (116) and Waukegan (182).

Steman stormed to 8th place over the 3-mile course with a time of 18 minutes, 23.22 seconds. Next best for ETHS was Dwierzynski, 12th in 18:40.04.

Also counting for ETHS were Gabi Dinsmore, 14th in 18:55.62; Camilla Zecker, 20th in 19:38.61; and Lydia Hoopingarner, 21st in 19:46.21. Hoopingarner’s twin sister, Tess, placed 23rd in 19:50.37.

New Trier junior Mimi Smith claimed individual honors in 17:17.01.

Boys Finish Fifth at CSL South Division Meet

Despite placing two runners in the top 25 as individuals, Evanston’s boys cross country team settled for a fifth place team finish Saturday at the Central Suburban League South division championship meet hosted by Niles West High School.

Junior Carl Klamm ran 20th  in 16 minutes, 14.01 seconds as the top finisher for ETHS, followed by teammate Estaban Escabar, 21st in 16:25.12.

Also competing for Evanston were Ben Butler, 27th in 16:54.50; Spencer Eanes, 29th in 17:07.61; Henry Magnuson, 33rd in 17:22.42; and Conrad Gordon, 34th in 17:24.48.

In the team competition, New Trier ruled with 27 points. Next best were Maine South (47), Glenbrook South (71), Waukegan (119), Evanston (128) and Niles West (144).
