PHOTOS: Dancers Swing to R&B Downtown

Patch captured the action during this week's "It's Thursday, Let's Dance!" event, when the Shirley King Band played in downtown Evanston.

The sounds of Chicago blues and R&B brought out dancers young and old in downtown Evanston this Thursday.

The Shirley King Band was playing at 909 Davis St. Plaza as part of the 13th annual "It's Thursday, Let's Dance!" series hosted by the Downtown Evanston Business Group.

Just two more evenings of free music and dance lessons are left, on July 19 and 26. Dance instruction lasts from 6 to 6:45 p.m., followed by two hours of live music. Upcoming bands are the Flat Cats, playing swing and jazz, and The Associates, bringing Motown sounds to the final evening in the series this summer.
