Local Government or Local NSA?

During a recent City Council mtg. our local alderman voted to apply for a  $200.000 grant  to install camera's along the corridor of Church & McCormick to Church and Ridge  from Howard and Dodge to Dodge and Simpson to the vocal and emotional outcry of residents attending the meeting. A statement in one the local papers stated the cameras would not be continuously monitored, to myself it seems like government waste once again. You request a grant bfor $200.000 dollars for cameras your not going to even watch a lot(no pun on the last name) of good that's going to do to help prevent crime. How about our local law enforcement actually get out there and solve some crimes instead of having the easy ones fall in  there laps, also what  good are the cameras if the can't even see  the face of the criminal,  bad ideal gone even worse. They say it came  in  respect to  protect the High  School students, but correct me if I'm wrong wasn't there a shooting last year right before Graduation for one of the Jr.highs @ the High School and right  in the rear of Local Law Enforcement surveillance vehicle.a lot of good that did.Multiple shootings and murders within blocks of the High School with no results. You would think with all the Local law enforcement presence around the school between 3-4:30p there would be no need for cameras or is the only area where crime is committed. What about the Civil Liberties of the residents where these Cameras are being installed.Where is the Alderwoman for the 5th ward or is the only time she cares about her residents is when there is a photo op.
