Chicago Avenue Roadwork Begins Monday

Motorists will have to endure daily lane shifts along Chicago Avenue and Keeney Street as road improvement project gets underway Monday.

The City of Evanston and Osman Construction Company are planning roadwork improvements from Monday, Aug. 12 through Sept. 21, according to a press release.

The work will include replacement of curbs, gutters and public sidewalks on Chicago Avenue between Keeney Street and 400 FT North.

Traffic along Chicago Avenue and Keeney Street will remain open, but a few lanes will shift daily and there will be no parking on Chicago Avenue from Keeney Street to approximately 400 FT to the north. Construction will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Motorists are advised to take extreme caution when entering this area from either north or southbound lanes, due to workers and heavy equipment in the street. There will be flaggers assisting pedestrians and vehicles going through the construction area during working hours.
