Checkers the Chihuahua Loves People

Each week, we feature cats and dogs available for adoption from the Community Animal Rescue Effort at the Evanston Animal Shelter.

Small dog, BIG personality. That describes CARE dog Checkers to a 'T.' This little chihuahua/cattle dog mix with his unforgettable harlequin face is a gentle soul who gets along with everyone.

C.A.R.E. volunteers have found Checkers to be reserved at first, but they love how quickly he warms up to and bonds with people. He's "affectionate without being clingy," as the vols describe him.

Checkers' personality continues to emerge. He has a lively, inquisitive side that the right family could help shine through. If you're looking for a calm, attentive companion in a compact package, come check out Checkers.
