Volunteer Work Day

VOLUNTEER WORK DAY:

Saturday, July 9th from 10 am to 1 pm
Location: Howard Street Farm, 3701 Howard, Skokie, IL (at the Tot Learning Center parking lot)

We have scheduled our first work day for our new land home! It will be on Saturday, July 9th, from 10 am to 1 pm. Since this site is former farmland now overgrown with invasives, you can imagine what this initial work will consist of... (but, of course, it includes fun!)  We will be walking over the entire 2 acres, picking up debris and beginning to cut back the weeds and brush.

The initial orientation is at 10 am sharp and then we will set to work. Meet near the southeast end of the parking lot.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (the ground is extremely uneven, has briars, and includes some shallow ponds so please do not bring younger children).  We have a Volunteer Waiver and Release to sign Download it here-http://www.thetalkingfarm.org/files/SPDTTFWaiverrelease.pdf

(Please note: volunteers younger than 18 years old must have parents sign the Release).

Please bring your own water bottles and dress for very hot and/or wet weather - hats, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, sturdy shoes (no open sandals).  If you have gloves, pruners and loppers that you can bring, that would be appreciated, but we'll also have extra tools. Please R.S.V.P. to linda@thetalkingfarm.org but we'll need lots of folks so also come if your schedule opens up at the last moment! (For inclement weather, please check with Linda at 847-651-1197 to see if the work day is still on.)

Please R.S.V.P. to Judy at judy@thetalkingfarm.org, but if your schedule opens up at the last moment - come anyway! (For inclement weather, please check with Judy at 847-425-5125 to see if the meetup is still on.)
