Flooding Could Be An Issue Over the Weekend

Residents should call 311 to report flooding issues later today.

With temperatures expected to rise and rain forecast later today, flooding could be a concern in Evanston, according to city manager Wally Bobkiewicz.

Snow and ice on the ground, combined with frozen soil and blocked drains, could become a problem, Bobkiewicz wrote in an e-mail to local media.

"City crews are working now to clear storm drains citywide of snow and ice," Bobkiewicz wrote. "This work will continue into the evening hours."

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 100 percent chance of rain Friday night, and possibly a thunderstorm.

Residents should call 311 with reports of flooded streets, according to Bobkiewicz. The call center will be open late into the evening to take questions and reports of flooding.
