Benefit Planned to Help Employees of Businesses Devastated By Davis Street Fire

Local music venue 27 Live is hosting a benefit to help support employees of three businesses that burned down last weekend.

After a fire ravaged three downtown Evanston businesses last weekend, local music venue 27 Live is hosting a fundraiser to help displaced employees.

27 Live will hold a "Davis St. Fire Fund" Benefit starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1012-14 Church St., according to a press release. Money raised through ticket sales, sponsorships and a raffle will help employees who lost their source of income due to the fire.

The fire that started at Pine Yard Restaurant, 1033 Davis St., quickly spread to Technicolour Nails 1 and Taco Diablo next door, destroying all three properties. Fire officials have said the damage was so bad that the building must be demolished

While the owners of Technicolour Nails and Taco Diablo have said they want to reopen, that process could take months. Building owner George Radaios said he plans to rebuild the property, but said it was too early to estimate how long that will take.

In the meantime, many of the employees of Technicolour Nails, Taco Diablo and Pine Yard are out of a job.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the Davis St. Fire Fund can contact Nili Yelin at nili@27live.com. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online for attendance or as a donation.

Steve Rashid, the Louie Zagoras Trio and Poor Man's Cow will perform at the benefit. Doors open at 8 p.m.
