Don't Miss Evanston's Holiday Bash & Tree Lighting This Friday

Spot Santa Claus on an Evanston Fire Truck, sing Christmas carols and watch the mayor flip a switch to light the giant tree in Fountain Square.

Get in the holiday spirit at the annual holiday bash and tree lighting in downtown Evanston this Friday, Nov. 22. 

Hop on a free trolley ride around downtown Evanston for storytelling, face-painting, refreshments and more at local shops, cafes and restaurants from 4 to 9 p.m. The etc. Music School will also provide live entertainment on the trolley, which is sponsored by the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, according to the Downtown Evanston business group.

Gather in Fountain Square at 5:30 p.m. to see Santa and Mrs. Claus coming down Sherman Avenue on a fire truck while the etc. Music School sings "Here Comes Santa Claus." The Second Baptist Church lends a hand in singing holiday carols while Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and Santa Claus officially light up the giant tree in Fountain Square. 

Kids can visit with Santa outside Bennison's Bakery, 1000 Davis St., following the tree lighting, while Mrs. Claus will greet kids from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m.at Bravo Cucina Italiana, 1701 Maple Ave.

Donations of warm clothing essentials such as coats, socks, long underwear, gloves and hats will be accepted for donation to Hilda's Place, Connections for the Homeless, at 1000 Davis St., 1701 Maple Ave. and 812 Church St.
